PHP 5 is the latest release of the free scripting language PHP, which is used to develop dynamic web pages. The new version that was released as stable in July contains major improvements and many new features.

PHP 5 offers a new object model, improved XML support, SOAP integration for web services and much more. The object model was completely redesigned and offers better performance and new functionality, based upon the libxml2 library. Additionally the developers have added a new memory manager. SimpleXML provides an easy way to edit XML constructs as PHP objects, optionally through the DOM interface.

PHP5 at emerion

PHP 5 is already included in all web hosting packages at emerion. You can change the PHP version for each domain in your ControlPanel. Currently the default version is 4.3.8.

Nevertheless we recommend against using PHP 5 for existing web sites in production state without thorough testing. Some incompatibilities between the different versions, or bugs in PHP 5 could cause problems.
